Plane Grounded At San Francisco Airport After Threat

A Transportation Security spokesman says officials are investigating a report of a threat made over the phone to a flight from San Francisco to New York before the jet took off.

Transportation Security Administration spokesman Greg Soule says the agency asked that the American Airlines plane be moved to a remote location as passengers are deplaned, interviewed and rescreened.

American Flight 24 had been scheduled to leave at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and was bound for New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Law enforcement officials are also sweeping the airplane for anything suspicious.

American Airlines spokesman Tim Smith says the threat was phoned into local police.

Officials say all 163 passengers and 11 crew members on the flight are unharmed.
