Dozens Of Inmates Brawl At Riverside County Prison
Authorities say about three dozen inmates brawled at a state prison in Riverside County, but there are no reports of serious injuries and the disturbance was quickly put down.
Lt. Brian Davis of the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco says a small fight in the chow line Tuesday morning led to a much larger one involving 30-35 inmates in a TV and gaming area in the afternoon.
Davis says guards used pepper spray to stop the brawl in about eight minutes.
He said many inmates had cuts and bruises but there were no immediate reports of serious injuries or inmates taken to hospitals.
No staff members were injured.
The prison about 50 miles southeast of Los Angeles currently houses about 4,200 inmates, most of them low-level offenders.
