Prison Transport Bus Involved In Interstate 10 Accident

The California Highway Patrol confirms an accident on Interstate 10 Thursday evening involved a bus used to carry prisoners.

The accident happened around 5:15 on the westbound side of the interstate near the Cook Street exit. Some lanes were shut down as a result.

The CHP officers who arrived said a a green bus hit one car. That car ended up hitting the side of the bus.

“In no way was the bus disabled because of the inmates,” Nieburger said, adding that none of the inmates fled and all were in custody.

She said that four of the inmates complained of pain and were taken to a hospital to be checked out.

All lanes were re-opened at 5:40 p.m., but onlookers continue to slow traffic down.
