Palm Springs Mayor Commemorates Marines’ Birthday

Mayor Steve Pougnet will commemorate the U.S. Marine Corps’ 235th birthday today with a special proclamation.

The ceremony is set for noon at the USO headquarters in the lobby of Palm Springs International Airport. An officer from the Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms will accept the award.

Pougnet said the city respects and appreciates the service Marines have given to the United States.

“It’s only appropriate that we pay tribute to these brave men and women who have valiantly signed up to put their lives on the line in order to protect our freedoms,” he said.
