Drum Hike Tour Makes Its Way To Palm Desert
Troy Yocum is beating a drum for 7,000 miles across America to raise awareness and money for struggling military families.
To do it, it will take him 16 months, and he hopes to raise $5 million dollars to help out the families of those serving in the armed forces, who have been hit hard in these tough economic times.
On Friday, Yocum and his entourage drummed their way up the sidewalk to the KESQ-TV studios in Palm Desert. where Jeff Stahl and Emilie Voss got the chance to ask him why he decided to make his trek.
Yocum says he chose to march while banging a drum because he wanted to have a way to draw attention to his cause and it seemed symbolic of the Civil War and patriotism.
He added that even though the U.S. isn’t in a war now, many are still fighting a day-to-day battle to provide for their families.
If you’d like to help out military families around the nation just text “soldiers” to 20222 for a five dollar donation… as Yocum pushes on, beat by beat, in his cause to raise awareness across the country.
