One Month, 11 Days Later, November Election Certified In Riverside County

More than one month since voters cast their ballots in the November 2 General Election, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters office announced on Monday the votes were now certified.

A slow counting process that resulted in the ousting of the registrar from her job and several recounts in several races stalled the results from being “official” in the eyes of the law.

In the end, none of the results in local races that had been challenged had changed.

In the Indio City Council race, Elaine Holmes, Michael Wilson and Ben Godfrey were all elected to council seats.

In the Indian Wells City Council race, Mary Roche came out number-one, while Patrick Mullany held onto his eight vote lead to Ted Mertens.

Monday, a candidate contesting a race in Lake Elsinore withdrew his request, clearing the way for the certification.
