Man Detained After Boy Found Dead, 4 Injured In Home

Authorities in Southern California have detained a man after finding a boy dead and four others injured in a home in an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County.

County sheriff’s spokeswoman Arden Wilshire says deputies went to the home Wednesday morning after someone called 911 to report a man screaming for help inside the home.

Arriving deputies took a man into custody and found two girls, two boys and a woman suffering from multiple injuries. Wilshire says one boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Los Angeles Times reports the adult female was in very serious condition at a local hospital, and a sheriff’s spokesperson could not confirm they were all stabbed.

The newspaper reports the incident happened on the 6600 block of Merito Avenue.

Wilshire says investigators are still questioning the man and don’t know what caused the victims’ injuries. She also declined to say if the victims are related.

She says investigators haven’t determined if the man is a suspect, a witness or a victim himself.
