A standoff between a wanted parolee and Indio police ended Tuesday afternoon with the parolee in custody.

The standoff forced Eisenhower Elemenary School into lockdown for about 90 minutes, according to Indio police.

Officers were trying to serve an arrest warrant for the man near the intersection of Jackson Street and Sonora Drive in Indio when he refused to come out.

The suspect was reportedly sitting in an apartment with a loaded gun, and officers were trying to bring him out peacefully.

The situation eneded shortly before 3:15 p.m.

Students at Eisenhower were reportedly not in any danger but placed in lockdown as a precaution.
