Man Pleads Not Guilty To Stabbing Mother In Palm Springs
A 33-year-old man pleaded not guilty today to stabbing his mother with a paring knife.
Jed Aloe was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon in Saturday’s roughly 9:50 a.m. attack on his 58-year-old mother in her home in the 2400 block of Tuscan Road, Palm Springs police Sgt. Marc Melanson said.
Aloe allegedly stabbed his mother in the thigh four to six time. The mother, who was treated for her injuries and released the same day, told police her son was schizophrenic.
Police arrested Aloe about an hour after the attack in the Chino Canyon area, which abuts the neighborhood.
At Aloe’s arraignment today, Superior Court Judge John M. Davis doubled Aloe’s bail to $50,000 at the prosecutor’s request.
Aloe is scheduled to be in court April 11 for a felony settlement conference.
