Police: Desert Hot Springs Shooting Victim Shot Herself
A woman who initially told sheriff’s deputies someone shot her really shot herself, a sheriff’s deputy said today.
The woman, whose name was withheld, was turned over mental health professionals to be evaluated, Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela said.
The woman showed up at a Desert Hot Springs Medical Center Tuesday morning and told staffers there that someone shot in the chest about 5 p.m. Monday near The Lost Heads Ranch, an addiction treatment center at 7885 Annandale Ave., she said.
“Investigators have discovered the female in this incident was, in fact, not assaulted at the hands of another but instead suffered a self- inflicted gunshot wound,” Valenzuela said.
