UPDATE: Man Dead After Shootout In Beaumont Involving Police Officer

A Beaumont man is dead and his suspected attacker is recovering, after a fight broke out early Saturday morning.

It happened just before 2 a.m. outside a nightclub on the 500 block of Beaumont Avenue.

An arriving police unit said a large crowd was gathering outside the club, when the fight broke out. One of the men allegedly pull a gun and started shooting at the other man involved in the fight. When the officer told the gunman to put the weapon down, the suspect refused. Fearing the suspect may open fire again the officer shot and hit him.

Beaumont Police say both men involved in the fight were taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

The victim, identified as 46 year old Andy Albarran, later died at the hospital.

The suspects name has not been released. he is expected to be arrested once released from the hospital.

The officer involved is now on paid administrative leave, pending the investigation.
