First Alert Weather Alert Day ending Thursday night due to gusty winds
Your First Alert Weather team issues a First Alert Weather Alert Day for any conditions that will impact your day. Strong winds are expected to continue through Thursday night as winds this evening are likely to meet or exceed the set criteria.
Here's a look at some of the strongest gusts from around the desert in the past 48 hours:
As the winds dry the atmosphere out, fire danger increases. A Red Flag Warning is in effect through 2:00 a.m. Friday for the High Desert. This includes areas such as Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, and Twentynine Palms. Humidity levels are expected to drop into the single digits.
A trough of low pressure moving into Southern California is the reason gusty west winds continue to be a factor. This trough will also bring some cooler air back into the region.
By Friday, highs will drop into the low 80s. Warming resumes quickly early next week, near seasonal averages.
The First Alert Weather Team will continue to monitor and track the impactful winds. Check back for updates.
