Rescue mission reaches out to homeless dealing with heat
The scorching heat can be especially dangerous for the homeless.
The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission has again kicked off its campaign called “90 Days of Summer Relief.”
Friday, mission workers handed out water, shirts, hats, shoes, and sunscreen to the homeless while nurses provided any needed medical aid.
One of their goals of the campaign is to encourage the homeless to go to the rescue mission for relief and safe shelter.
“Everyday there’s homeless you don’t see — people that are hurting and just needy right now. We have a thousand people right now on our streets that need help,” said Greg Fisher with the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.
The “90 Days of Summer Relief” campaign also aims to raise public awareness about the mission’s purpose and the serious need for more donations during the hot summer months.
