Man arrested after being shot in Cathedral City
A man shot in the arm during a confrontation in Cathedral City was behind bars today on suspicion of parole violation, police said.
Authorities received a report about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday that a man was shot in front of a home in the 30-800 block of San Gabriel Circle.
The victim, 25-year-old Jose Daniel Garcia of Cathedral City, had a gunshot wound to his lower arm, said Cathedral City police Sgt. Julio Luna.
“Garcia was evasive during the investigation and failed to provide accurate description of the suspect or location of the shooting,” Luna said.
Garcia was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. Police discovered that he was on parole for a felony burglary conviction, and had a warrant for violating the terms of his parole. He also had a stolen vehicle, Luna alleged.
Garcia was arrested and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, where he was being held without bail.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Cathedral City Police Department at 760-770-0303.
