Yucaipa soldier dies while serving in Afghanistan

Pfc. Nathan T. Davis, 20, of Yucaipa, CA, died June 9, in Tore Obeh, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when his vehicle was attacked with an enemy improvised explosive device, according to the Department of Defense.

Davis was assigned to the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. He was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Gov. Jerry Brown ordered all flags to fly at half-staff on Tuesday in honor of Davis, who he said “bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation.”

The Governor extended his deepest condolences to Davis’ family and friends at this difficult time.

Davis’ family will receive a letter of condolence from the governor.
