McGowan’s Irish Inn fire contained

Cal Fire crews were able to quickly contain a fire at McGowan’s IrishInn in Palm Desert Wednesday afternoon.

The fire erupted just before noon at the famous pub.

Cal Fire Crews responded and reported heavy smoke coming from the inside of the building.

No word on the cause or damage at this time.

The owners said the restaurant closed in July for a summer break and was scheduled to reopen in September.

Cal Fire says one firefighter was transported to the hospital due to a heat related illness while fighting the fire.

Crews will remain on scene for several hours for mop up says Cal Fire.
