Policeare seekingtwo gang members who they say shot at a man in his vehicle in Cathedral City. Officers arrivedat the 32500 block of Shifting Sands Trail about 5:30 p.m. Friday on a report of two men chasing and shooting at a vehicle. They found the victim near Indian Mission Trail and Candlewood Drive, Cathedral City police
Sgt. Alberto Ruiz said.

The victim told police he got into a “beef” with a group of self-described gang members in front of his home the night before and fought with one of them, as the others etched their gang sign onto his vehicle, Ruiz said.

The man saw several of the same suspects near his home Friday and, when
they spotted him in his car, two of them drew handguns and fired at him, he
said. A bullet struck the hood of his vehicle, Ruiz said.

The suspects fled on foot toward Ramon Avenue. The victim was uninjured,
he added.

They were described as Hispanic, 16-20 years old, with shaved heads and
wearing black shorts and T-shirts.

Anyone with more information about the shooting was asked to call
Cathedral City police at (760) 770-0303.
