Monsoonal moisture could bring rain to parts of Riverside County

Monsoonal moisture will bring scattered afternoon and early evening thunderstorms to the mountain and far inland valley areas of Riverside County today, as another day of hot and humid weather blankets the entire region, forecasters said.
According the National Weather Service, high pressure and monsoonal moisture will continue the hot humid weather through today, before a weak trough of low pressure over the Eastern Pacific brings minor cooling and a little less humidity for the middle part of the week.
An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. for the Coachella Valley, where the NWS forecast daytime highs of 110 to 118 degrees and overnight lows between 86 and 94 degrees.
“Hot days followed by very warm nights can limit the bodies ability to keep cool,” the Weather Service advised. “Visiting hikers and campers unfamiliar with intense desert heat are especially susceptible to heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Pets are also susceptible to this heat.”
Daytime highs in the Inland Empire today are expected to between 97 to 107 degrees, while temperatures should peak in the high 80s to high 90s in the mountains.
The agency suggested residents confine strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening hours. It also advised those who must work outside during the day to take frequent rest breaks in shaded areas or in air conditioned rooms, if possible.
