Gas prices continue to rise
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose today for the 34th time in 35 days, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.09, its highest amount since June 11.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has risen 43.5 cents over the past 35 days, including 1 cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 17.1 cents more than one week ago, 40.2 cents higher than one month ago and 38.8 cents greater than one year ago.
Analysts attribute much of the recent increases to the major fire at the Chevron refinery in Richmond Aug. 6 that caused wholesale gasoline prices to
begin to rise the following day out of fears of reduced supplies.
