Detectives search for more victims after teacher arrested for abusing children

A former first grade teacher is under arrest after he confessed to sexually abusing children.

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department released the information and the photo of 52 year old Caleb Hesse, of Joshua Tree, to the media today to hopefully help their case.

The Sheriff’s Department says Hesse reportedly told investigators that he had inappropriate contact with numerous underage boys. Authorities believe the crimes occurred between the early 1980’s and as recently as a week ago.

Hesse was a teacher at Morongo Unified School District since 1987 and until recently worked as a first grade teacher at a Joshua Tree Elementary School.

Police say he was also a youth volunteer with an Evangelical church in Yucca Valley since the 1980’s.

Investigators also say they believe most of the victims may now be in their 30’s and 40’s.

Hesse is booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, charged with lewd acts with a child. His bail is set at two and half million dollars and he is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
