Music Festival Expansion

The promoter of the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals wants to add two more music festivals each year in a long-term deal with the city of Indio.

Goldenvoice would like to hold up to five festivals each year. Three in the spring and two in the fall. Attendance would also be allowed to expand up to 99,000 people for three of those festivals and 75,000 for the other two.

Currently, Coachella is capped at 95,000 people and Stagecoach is allowed a maximum of 65,000.

The long-term deal would run through 2030.

The city is looking to get input from the public on the plans. A public meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Indio City Council chambers.
