String of quakes hit Coachella Valley

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck the Coachella Valley Sunday, one of a string of weekend quakes centered in the mountains north and east of Indio.

The quake was the largest of a series centered 8 miles northeast of Indio that started Friday night.

On Saturday, a magnitude 2.6 quake struck at 8:22 a.m., preceded at 8:12 by a magnitude 2.3 quake. At least two dozen smaller quakes have rattled out as well.

People reported weak to light shacking in the Coachella Valley.

At 1:45 p.m., an apparently unrelated 3.2 magnitude quake struck about 39 miles north of Joshua Tree.

There are no reports of any damage or injuries.
