Police arrest Indio man and girlfriend for deadly shooting
An Indio man was in jail Monday following a shooting that left another man dead.
Police found Homero Valle, 29, Indio laying in the road along Calhoun Street, just north of Date Avenue Sunday afternoon, gravely injured.
Officers had been responding to a report of a traffic collision involving a gray Ford SUV and a tan GMC pickup truck Sunday afternoon at 2:45 p.m. when they learned of the shooting.
Valle was rushed to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Indio Police Department spokesman, Ben Guitron, said investigators worked leads Sunday, collected evidence, and conducted several interviews from the scene. They also received anonymous tips which helped the investigation.
Police arrested Omar Guillen, 27, Indio Monday morning at a Palm Desert hotel along with his girlfriend, Ivy Elizabeth Garcia, 23, Indio.
Guillen was charged with murder, while Garcia was accused of aiding and abetting a wanted felon.
Both were booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio and were expected in court Wednesday, Guillen’s bail set at $1,000,000.
