PS police officers to host fundraiser for domestic violence victims

The Palm Springs Police Officers Association willhold its first fundraiser Saturday to benefit a shelter for victims of domesticviolence.

Proceeds from the “New Beginnings Gala” will help Shelter from theStorm, the primary shelter for women and children in Riverside County. Thefestivities will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The fundraiser is open to the public, and tickets cost $250, spokeswomanAndrea Carter said today. The convention center is at 277 N. AvenidaCaballeros.

Victoria Cameron, a superior court judge in Indio, and Lynn Moriarty,who retired last year as the shelter’s executive director, will be honored atthe gala.

People with questions about Saturday’s fundraiser should call Shelterfrom the Storm at (760) 674-0400, Carter said.
