Riverside County rain expected to move on later today

The rain that has been falling in Riverside County this week is expected to lessen this afternoon as a low-pressure atmospheric system moves through the state and out of the region, forecasters said.

Showers continued in the Inland Empire and the Riverside County valleys and mountains this morning, and forecasters expect only a chance of rain this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Over a two-day period ending shortly after 5 a.m., more than a half-inch of rain fell in Murrieta and at Pine Cove, .33 inches in Menifee, .29 inches in Perris and .08 inches in Riverside.

No precipitation was recorded Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert or Thermal in the Coachella Valley, according to the NWS.

Forecasters expect a few hundredths of an inch of rain or less to fall in the Riverside County valleys this morning. In the mountains, a tenth of an inch of rain or less is expected.

The weather service advised motorists to use caution on rain-slicked roads.

No hazardous weather is expected Wednesday through Monday, including in the Coachella Valley, according to the NWS.
