4th annual Environmental and Sustainability Expo starts Thursday
Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus will host its fourth annual environmental and Sustainability Expo starting Thursday.
Robert Phalen, associate professor of health science and human ecologyat Cal State, and Jack Porrelli, legislative analyst at the Coachella ValleyWater District, will speak at 5:30 p.m. at the Indian Wells Theater. The eventcontinues Friday.
Phalen will speak about the “Sustainable Goods Movement: Maintainingthe Economy, Environment and Equity,” and Porelli’s topic is “Keeping theValley Green: Connecting the Drops.”
Friday will feature award-winning science fair and environmental clubprojects from students from Coachella Valley school districts and local privateschools. Cal State San Bernardino faculty will demonstrate recent research onenvironmental science, and representatives from local green industries willspeak to students about working in their fields.
Also on Friday, Michaeleen Gallagher, director of education andenvironmental programs at Rancho Mirage estate Sunnylands, will speak, andstudents from the Palm Springs Unified School District will screen theirenvironment-related digital films.
The Environmental and Sustainability Expo is sponsored by the campus’sPalm Springs Institute for Environmental Sustainability.
