91 Freeway Closure Planned in Downtown Riverside
According to Caltrans, a nighttime closure is scheduled Tuesday on the
east- and westbound sides of the 91 between 14th Street and Central Avenue.
The shutdown is necessary while crews set columns for the permanent
placement of a rail bridge at Pachappa Drive. The project is a component of the $232 million 91 freeway expansion, according to Caltrans.
Both sides of the east-west artery will be closed from 11:45 p.m.
Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday. A mile-long stretch of freeway will be
inaccessible to traffic during that time.
Caltrans urged motorists to use the Pomona (60) Freeway or Interstate 10
if they’re planning to commute to work in the predawn hours Wednesday.
Drivers who encounter the closure will be detoured off the 91 and onto city
streets in Riverside until they’re clear of the construction zone.
