Ontario sues Los Angeles for return of airport
The city of Ontario is suing Los Angeles to regain control of Ontario International Airport.
The suit filed Monday accuses LA of mismanagement and of violating terms of an agreement that gave LA airport control in 1985.
Ontario claims that the city, Los Angeles World Airports and the LA Board of Airport Commissioners have focused on improving Los Angeles International Airport to the detriment of the local facility.
The airport has been hemorrhaging passengers and flights while the passenger load is up at LAX. Fewer than 4 million people are expected to use the Ontario airport this year, down nearly 50 percent since 2007.
Ontario filed suit after LA rejected its previous claim demanding return of the airport.
