Riverside police kill gunman in confrontation
Riverside police say they’ve killed a gunman following a hit-and-run freeway crash.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says two cars collided on Highway 91 at about 11 p.m. Tuesday. Sgt. David Amador says there were no reports of injuries but the car that caused the crash fled.
Witnesses followed it off the freeway and reported seeing a passenger get out with a gun.
Amador says arriving officers confronted the passenger at a nearby gas station and shot him when he pointed his gun. His name hasn’t been released.
The California Highway Patrol arrested the driver on suspicion of hit-and-run driving under the influence.
