Large amount of illegal marijuana seized in Landers

The Sheriff’s Narcotics Division Marijuana Enforcement Team and deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station say they uncovered a large illegal marijuana cultivation at a residence in Landers Wednesday morning.

A total of 421 marijuana plants were seized, as well as three pounds of processed marijuana.

Authorities arrested Phou Keomachaxay and Vanphachay Chanthaachon, who were at the residence when investigators arrived. Detectives say the residence was minimally furnished and believe it was used primarily for cultivation.

This investigation will be submitted to the District Attorney for review.
