Philanthropist Eddie Cinque posthumously receives star on Palm Springs Walk of Stars

Business owner and local philanthropist Eddie Cinque, who died in 2011, will posthumously receive a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.

Cinque will be honored with the walk’s 359th star at a 4 p.m. today at a dedication ceremony at 538 N. Palm Canyon Drive. He had long wanted to operate a “Cheers’-like” neighborhood bar and opened Toucan’s Tiki Lounge on North Palm Canyon in November 2001 after moving to Palm Springs, according to the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.

Cinque supported local businesses, events, charities and organizations, including the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Palm Springs International ShortFest.

“The Palm Springs International Film Society was very proud to count Eddie Cinque among its most magnanimous sponsors,” said Darryl Macdonald, executive director of the film festival. “His generosity of spirit, warm heart and boundless love for the city of Palm Springs merit this honor.”
