Small earthquake shakes Coachella Valley

A small earthquake shook the Coachella Valley today.

The magnitude 3.1 earthquake hit at 1:17 a.m. at a depth of around 3 miles, according to a computer-generated report from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake’s epicenter was 2 miles north of Sky Valley, 8 miles east-northeast of Desert Hot Springs, 11 miles north-northeast of Cathedral city and 13 miles east-northeast of Palm Springs, according to the USGS.
