DUI checkpoint set up in Coachella Valley

Riverside County sheriff’s deputies will operate a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint in the southeastern Coachella Valley area this weekend.

The checkpoint will be conducted from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday at an undisclosed location in the Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District, which includes the unincorporated communities of Mecca, Oasis, Thermal and Vista Santa Rosa, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Castro.

Deputies will look for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment, and
check for valid licenses.

The checkpoint is funded by the district, a special area established by voters that provides government services to the area.
