‘Forever Marilyn’ statue vandalized over weekend

Someone tagged graffiti on the Forever Marilyn statue just weeks before she’s set to depart Palm Springs for New Jersey.

On Facebook, residents posted images of the graffiti. Bill Walter provided a photo of the vandalism, which apparently happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

The blue paint started just above Marilyn’s left ankle. The graffiti was removed early Monday morning.

Sgt. Harvey Reed with the Palm Springs Police Department said, “The [surveillance] cameras were rolling, but nothing of evidentiary value was found. The investigation is ongoing.”

Marilyn is no stranger to tagging, she was struck once before when she stood in Chicago.

The 26-foot-tall sculpture will leave Palm Springs on April, 1.

If you have any information about the incident, call police or Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
