Faulty cable causes Palm Desert power outage

A faulty underground cable caused an outage Saturday that initially affected 34 customer accounts at a Palm Desert subdivision.

The outage was reported shortly after 8 a.m. and happened along Presidio Place. Eighteen residents were still without power by midday, Southern California Edison spokesman Amado Zavala said.

Power should be back on by 3:30 p.m. but work crews could take longer, Zavala said.
