California bracing for heat wave
(AP) – Mother Nature is giving the greater Los Angeles area a hot and gusty gift this Mother’s Day.
And the weather is just a preview of what forecasters say to expect across California in coming days.
Winds in coastal mountains near Los Angeles reached as high as 73 mph early Sunday, while morning brought sunny skies with projected high temperatures in the 80s.
It all adds up to “red flag” fire danger, with authorities warning that any wild land flames would quickly spread out of control.
Across California, temperatures are projected to increase through midweek, when they should top 100 degrees in inland areas already parched by drought.
