All roads back open after sandstorms

All roads are back open Monday morning following closures over the weekend due to windy conditions and sandstorms.

Palm Springs police reported that Vista Chino and Gene Autry were reopened around 7:30 a.m. Indian Canyon was reopened shortly after 9 a.m.

All of these roads were closed by police on Saturday night.

These roads close often when the wind picks up. Motorists can use Highway 111, Date Palm Drive, Ramon Road or Dinah Shore Drive as alternate routes.

The Palm Springs Police Department says the closures stay in place until visibility levels are safe and the sand is removed from the roads.
