Traffic light project begins in Indio
Installation work began Tuesday for a traffic light at an Indio intersection, meaning some disruption for motorists as the effort continues.
The $500,000 job at Jackson Street and Dillon Avenue, which turns into
Market Street, also includes re-paving the roads. The project is expected to be completed by July 29, Indio spokesman Jason Chan said.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction on Jackson Street for the duration of the project. Businesses and homes will be accessible during the work and detours will be posted, Chan said.
The project is partly funded by a $330,000 federal grant, with the remaining $170,000 coming out of Indio’s transportation fund, city engineer Tom
Rafferty said.
