Firefighters attack ‘Sabina Fire’ southeast of Hemet

A brush fire has grown to 78 acres in the Aguanga area Wednesday, according to Cal Fire. Officials have dubbed the blaze the ‘Sabina Fire.

The fire near Sabina Drive and Ballinger Road was reported about 10:45 a.m. and is burning at what firefighters called a moderate rate, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Fuhrman said.

The fire is at 50% containment Wednesday afternoon and officials estimate full containment by midnight.

More than 220 firefighters, 33 engines, six air tankers and three helicopters were sent to the scene, she said. No injuries or evacuations have been reported.

Aguanga is about 26 miles south-southeast of Hemet.
