The man charged with murdering 19-year-old Erin Corwin was transported from Anchorage Alaska and brought back to San Bernardino County Sunday night, according to San Bernardino County jail records.
Christopher Brandon Lee, 24, is expected to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Morongo Superior Court.
The alleged lover of Erin Corwin is accused of killing her, then dumping her body 140 feet down a mineshaft near the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base.
A community candlelight vigil was held Monday evening to honor and celebrate the life of 19-year-old Erin Corwin.
Corwin’s family said women who live on the Twentynine Palms Marine Base planned the vigil which took place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Luckie Park, 5885 Luckie Ave, Twentynine Palms.
The community was invited to celebrate Erin and support the search and rescue crews who spent nearly eight weeks and 5,000 volunteer hours looking for her since she disappeared June 28.
Corwin’s family encouraged people to wear purple in her memory and continue to wear a purple ribbon until there is justice in her murder, according to DeeAnna Heavilin, Corwin’s sister-in-law.
