Coroner I.D.’s victims of deadly weekend crash in Palm Springs
Palm Springs police say two people died following a crash on North Gene Autry in Palm Springs early Sunday morning.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office released the names of the victims on Monday. The Coroner says 21 year old Osvaldo Ramirez, of Cathedral City and 18 year old Tierra Reagins, of Palm Springs both were killed in the crash.
Palm Springs Police reported that around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, a black 2005 Cadillac CTS hit a light pole at a high rate of speed killing both Ramirez and Reagins.
Two other people were in the car but survived. The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of major injuries, while the passenger was released with only minor injuries at the scene. Police have not identified the driver or other passenger that survived at this time.
The Cadillac split in two, leaving the front end of the car yards away from the back end, which was crunched around a light pole on the northwest side of Tachevah.
Police shut down North Gene Autry near Vista Chino for clean up and investigation. It re-opened around 10:30 a.m.
Officers are investigating the possibility of alcohol as a factor, in addition to speed. The investigation is ongoing.
