Palm Desert garage fire injures homeowner, destroys cars

Firefighters were called to a home in Palm Desert at about 12 p.m. Thursday after a fire ignited in the garage.

The house is located in the 41800 block of Jones Drive. The rest of the home wasn’t damaged as firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the garage just after 1 p.m.

Officials said a homeowner was injured in the fire and was being treated for non life-threatening injuries. Two cars were completely destroyed.

Firefighters said they were going to remain on scene until about 3 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
