Sen. Hueso says he’ll face consequences of his actions after DUI charges
Sacramento County prosecutors have filed formal charges against a state senator accused of drunken driving last month.
In charges made public Monday, San Diego Democratic Sen. Ben Hueso (CA-40th), whose district includes Indio, Coachella, Cathedral City and Thousand Palms, faces two misdemeanor charges: driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher.
Hueso was arrested on Aug. 22 after a California Highway Patrol officer spotted him driving the wrong way on a downtown Sacramento street. Earlier that night, Hueso and other lawmakers were photographed drinking in the Capitol after a dinner for the Latino Legislative caucus.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges on Sept. 18.
Hueso has said he will accept the consequences of his actions. He is the fourth Senate Democrat facing legal troubles this year.
