Sinkhole on Avenue 42 may impact traffic until Thursday

A sinkhole is causing traffic issues on Avenue 42 in Indio. Officials with Indio Public Works said the sinkhole isn’t weather-related; it was caused after the center median irrigation system failed.

The sinkhole is located at Avenue 42 and Glass Drive near the Bermuda Dunes Airport.

Avenue 42 has been closed in the area while crews work to repair the roadway. Officials said one lane may be open later on Wednesday, but the road won’t be completely fixed until Thursday.

You should avoid the area and take alternate routes for the time being.
