Huge rattlesnake found in Cathedral City garden
A gardener in Cathedral City made a startling discovery Thursday when he found a gigantic rattlesnake in one of our viewer’s backyards.
Michael Fietsam posted the photo after his gardener grabbed the dangerous serpent at his home on Terrace Road in the Cathedral City Cove. Luckily nobody was bitten, but the discovery serves as an important reminder for all residents to be wary of venomous snakes.
Folks are often cautious while hiking or recreating in the wilderness, but the danger could be lurking close to your home as well. So it’s important to make sure your family members are aware of the danger and to keep a close eye on pets.
Fietsam posted on Facebook, “Rattlesnake found in our back yard on Terrace in the cove. Watch your dogs, cats and feet. YIKES!!!”
In an interview KESQ and CBS Local 2 conducted in February, Director of Conservation and Education at the Living Desert Peter Siminski said, “Watch where you put your feet and your hands, and use a flashlight when you’re hiking on a warm night.”
