CHP officers in hot water for sharing nude photos of arrested women
A California Highway Patrol chief addressing a controversy over officers suspected of secretly sharing explicit photos of women placed under arrest says the case is isolated to one Northern California office.
The Contra Costa Times reported Sunday that CHP Chief Avery Browne thanked a 23-year-old who reported that photos had been sent from her phone while she was in custody on suspicion of drunken driving. Browne said that the allegations are disappointing and disgusting.
Investigators say Officer Sean Harrington confessed to sending the photos to colleagues as a game.
Browne says this appears isolated to the CHP’s Dublin office.
He says one officer has been barred from work, and a second pulled from patrol duties; a third officer is considered a witness.
Attempts by The Associated Press to reach Harrington for comment have been unsuccessful.
