The Living Desert set to debut new live stage show Saturday

The Living Desert in Palm Desert is set to debut a new live stage show Saturday.

The show called “Zoorassic Park” takes visitors back to prehistoric times.

It uses three very real-looking dinosaur characters.

The show’s life-like dinosaur characters were designed and hand built by a team in Hollywood that has worked on movies including “Critters”-“Elf”-and “Gremlins”.

The 25-minute show starts daily at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The performances at the Tennity Amphitheatre, are free with paid admission to The Living Desert.

Brutus, a Tyrannousaurus Rex about 7-feet tall and 15-feet long, will growl, snort and roar along with Penny, a Parasaurolophus who stands 10-feet tall and 17-feet long, spokeswoman Rebecca Brown said. A baby Triceratops named Trixie rounds out the stage trio, she added.

In addition to the live show, junior paleontologists will have a chance to dig for fossils and take photos with dinosaur exhibits throughout the zoo, according to officials.
