Chelsea Clinton hosts Day of Action in Palm Springs
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton will join local dignitaries on Sunday for a “Day of Action” in the city’s Desert Highland neighborhood, during which volunteers will plant a sustainable orchard, paint benches and recreational equipment, and take part in a bicycle safety demonstration for children, city officials announced Sunday.
The Day of Action events, founded by Chelsea Clinton and sponsored by the Clinton Foundation, have mobilized thousands of volunteers since 2012 to perform community service.
Joining Clinton will be local boxing champion Tim Bradley, Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet and Desert Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Carolyn Caldwell.
The Day of Action will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, 480 Tramview Road. The event will end with Mayor Pougnet leading children on a short bike ride through the neighborhood.
