Newly renovated Palm Springs library celebrated

Seventy-four years ago the Welwood Murray Memorial Library opened to the public in downtown Palm Springs. Fast forward seven plus decades and the property has been significantly upgraded with new technology. The public has access to computers, printers, free wi-fi, a browsing collection of national magazines and daily newspapers as well as access to historical research and archives.

The library’s transformation was in part due to the passage of Measure J. Mayor Steve Pougnet said today that the re-opening of the library is an important step in the downtown revitalization.

Today there was a ribbon cutting and remarks from city officials in front of the library, located on S. Palm Canyon Drive on the corner of Tahquitz.
