Alleged DUI driver hits Palm Desert street sign, drives off

Police in Palm Desert arrested an alleged drunk driver for hitting city property and driving away.

Officers say the driver of a Ford truck hit a center divider on Highway 111, knocking down a traffic sign and driving off.

Shortly after, around 9:15 p.m., police arrested 57-year-old Tania Joyce Kaiser of Topanga for driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run, and child endangerment. Kaiser was taken to a local hospital as a precaution prior to being booked into the Riverside County jail in the city of Indio.

No details were released in regards to the child endangerment charge.
